Anglian Water Case Study

Asset Dynamics supports Anglian Water with accurate asset data for enhanced maintenance & budget planning.

The Challenge

Our customer, Anglian Water, have facilities spanning more than 80 locations; these sites house a diverse range of assets at different life-cycle stages with different maintenance needs. Anglian Water were seeking a comprehensive asset management approach to make informed decisions about their facility operations and manage the risks that come with an ageing infrastructure.

Our key focus areas were to improve efficiency and uptime, reduce maintenance costs and achieve compliance requirements – whilst helping to support a positive perception with their regulators and stakeholders.

Our Approach

Working collaboratively with Anglian Water, we’ve implemented our facilities asset management solution, Asset Dynamics, tailoring our approach to meet their unique needs.

To deliver fully assured asset data, we conducted a comprehensive survey of 28,500 assets, collecting standardised information around their location, condition, lifecycle and criticality. We added all the new data into an easy to access single digital asset register.

For insights that inform decision-making, we provide ongoing data management for the upkeep of the asset register, which helps address inefficiencies, aids budget planning and shapes collective strategies.

This shift to a proactive risk-based maintenance approach supports optimisation of resources, preventing against asset failures and maintenance backlogs, extending asset lifespan and maintaining the focus on critical assets.

The Results

By using the single asset register, our collective teams can access accurate information, driving ongoing collaborative planning with Anglian Water, supported by our specialist asset management team.

Changing the approach to asset management, we've delivered efficiencies and optimisation for Anglian Water’s facilities operations. The proactive maintenance strategy has led to a 35% reduction in planned maintenance hours, allowing for reallocation of these hours elsewhere. And by identifying 26% of the assets as critical, we can more effectively prioritise resource allocation, which helps to improve business risk and resilience. Overall, this reduces the likelihood of operational interruptions by keeping buildings and assets in optimal condition.

To closely support Anglian Water’s objectives, we have implemented a business-focused, proactive maintenance approach across four sites, so far. This includes running planned activities to deliver greater long-term budget certainty for investment and capital projects. And by maintaining assets to the correct standards and necessary regulations, we help Anglian Water to achieve safety and compliance requirements, including specific water industry regulations.
