Cleaning

EMCOR UK’s overarching belief is that cleaning is far more than just a provided service. Having a clean work environment, be it in office technical, or industrial environments, is one of the most visible ways a company can differentiate itself in the market.

For the dedicated employees who spend their days working in a facility, a clean environment also directly correlates to employee wellbeing. Meticulously cleaned workspaces enhance employee productivity and present visiting clients, investors, and vendors with a positive experience.

EMCOR UK’s cleaning experts continually emphasise the importance of a proactive approach to cleaning—always in a pleasant and polite manner. They respond promptly with passion and pride and continually underscore the safety and security to tenants, occupants, and visitors.

Solely Dedicated Team For 100% Customer Focus

EMCOR UK offers customers a diverse range of in-house cleaning services by providing solely dedicated management structures, helping to ensure 100% focus on individual customer needs at all times. Our cleaning services are offered for locations that range in type from smart offices and production sites to laboratories and data centres.

Having a clean work environment is one of the most visible ways a company can differentiate itself in the market.

In the UK, many cleaning companies work in logistical areas, which means one cleaning team is assigned to many contracts within an area. This approach to cleaning provides very little client attention and leaves little room for understanding specific client needs.

Our Cleaning Standards

EMCOR UK applies the three leading international cleaning-industry standards to produce a best-in-class cleaning solution. These standards include:

  • The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association (ISSA) and Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS)
  • The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc)
  • British Standard: Cleaning services — basic requirements and recommendations for quality measuring systems (BS EN 13549:2001)

These three standards individually target a number of internationally recognised requirements for professional cleaning services. When combined, they produce a formidable solution that fully satisfies the unique needs of EMCOR UK’s customers.

The result of our distinctive approach to cleaning is a truly best-in-class service-delivery model that is radically different from the mass market.

Cleaning Case Study

Project Description

EMCOR UK was asked by a high-profile customer to reduce cleaning costs by a minimum of 30%, whilst still remaining capable of fulfilling the obligations as dictated under food-hygiene regulations and the independent, external BRC Global Standard audit procedure.

Key Benefits

  • After assessing the existing cleaning arrangement, EMCOR UK moved from an input spec to an output spec and introduced the BS EN 13549 continuous-audit process to monitor, evaluate, and address the cleaning requirements in real time.
  • Small-scale 'snap audits' were carried out throughout the site continuously, and the information was centrally captured in real time. This allowed EMCOR UK to better understand the specific cleaning needs of this customer’s business and deploy the necessary cleaning resource more efficiently and effectively.
  • EMCOR UK’s solution met the customer’s requirements for reducing their cleaning cost by 30%, with an overall improvement of cleaning standards across the site and a successful BRC Global Standard Audit result.

Cleaning Case Study

Project Description

Upon being awarded the facilities management contract at one of the UK’s international airports, it quickly became apparent that there were significant shortcomings in the quality of workmanship within the cleaning service being delivered on site. It was evident that cleaning staff were busy; however, the results of their endeavours were not meeting the client’s expectation.

Key Benefits

  • The EMCOR UK mobilisation team introduced a cleaning program based around BICS productivities and standards and introduced a training program for the staff that was in line with BICS methodologies.
  • EMCOR UK developed and introduced a bespoke auditing process in line with BS EN 13549 protocols, incorporating continuous auditing across all areas, which improved cleaning techniques, productivities, and standards being produced by the staff and far more effective deployment and use of the cleaning resource.
  • Efforts resulted in the award and recognition of the airport as the cleanest airport in Europe.

About the Customer

This airport customer serves around 40 direct European destinations with onward connections to the world via Amsterdam.

Cleaning Case Study

Project Description

EMCOR UK was able to massively reduce the cost of cleaning for one of its most prominent customers as part of a successful contract award for the additional supply of soft services across a number of sites.

Key Benefits

  • EMCOR UK introduced BICS methods, productivities, and standards across the estate, resulting in a 20% reduction in resources.
  • Through the additional implementation of a continuous auditing process, and capturing the data in real time, EMCOR UK was better able to understand the peaks and troughs on the demands for cleaning across the estate. This enabled EMCOR UK to better utilise and deploy the cleaning resource when and where it was needed, resulting in further efficiency.
  • EMCOR UK was also able to identify areas of overperformance in cleaning frequency and standards, resulting in even more cost savings for the customer.
  • EMCOR UK achieved these results by using the protocols of the BS EN 13549 standard for the auditing of cleaning services.
