EMCOR UK’s award-winning commitment to health and safety underpins all of our workplace practices. Safety is one of our five core values, and a ‘safety first’ approach to everything we do has helped EMCOR UK achieve an outstanding level of behavioural safety throughout our business.
A zero injury safety culture is the product of individual and group values, attitudes, perceptions, competencies, and patterns of behaviour that determine the commitment to safety, as well as the style and proficiency of safety management. We believe that the only acceptable safety goal within EMCOR UK is the goal of ZERO injuries.
At EMCOR UK health and safety is our #1 priority - the company has been recognised with 60+ related awards and recognitions in the past decade.
Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) awards are presented to organisations on the grounds of high standards in occupational health and life safety management.
Over the course of ten years, EMCOR UK has received more than 50 awards—including Silver, Gold, Gold Medal, President, and Sector awards—recognising us for demonstrating well developed occupational health and safety management systems, outstanding risk control, and low levels of error, harm, and loss.
Part of what has contributed to EMCOR UK's success in the area of health and safety practices, is the bespoke behavioural safety training we offer that builds on our parent company’s “Be There For Life” and “Be Vigilant” programmes.
These programmes promote the view that safety ownership is in the hands of the individual, and we empower all employees to be able to STOP if they feel a task or situation is unsafe.
This training and education includes active involvement in workshops, confronting risk, and becoming proactively involved to help ensure it addresses the issues commonly found in the workplace. Everyone must follow the rules, speak up, be mindful, and get involved.
EMCOR UK was one of only ten companies worldwide to be ISO 45001 certified on the first day the new standard went into effect. ISO 45001 specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, with guidance for its use, to enable organisations to proactively improve OH&S performance in preventing injury and ill-health.
EMCOR UK’s Health and Safety Leadership Team reviews quarterly our health and safety performance and statistics across the group in order to identify areas of both operational and policy improvement.
Ongoing incident reviews and benchmarking is studied across all our business sectors to help ensure learning and best practice is shared. We also work closely with all relevant legislative bodies in order to ensure that we are at the forefront of health and safety policy development.
At EMCOR UK, safety isn’t just a goal, it’s a way of life.
