EMCOR UK Achieves ISO 14001:2015 Certification International Standard for Environmental Management Systems Taking Next Step in Achieving Environmental Goals for Customers

Leading facilities management provider EMCOR UK recently achieved the latest ISO 14001 certification, ISO 14001:2015, the international standard that specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organisation can use to enhance its environmental performance, further contributing to its systematic management of its environmental pillar of sustainability.

In order to achieve certification to the standard, a company is required to undergo a rigorous assessment programme, conducted by BSI (British Standards Institution). To meet the requirements of ISO 14001:2015, EMCOR UK had to show it has the necessary policies and procedures in place for all environment-related issues relevant to its operations, such as:

  • Air pollution
  • Water and sewage issues
  • Waste Management
  • Soil contamination
  • Climate Change mitigation and adaptation
  • Resource use and efficiency

Keith Chanter, CEO, EMCOR UK, commented: “The award of ISO 14001:2015 represents the achievement of a very important strategic objective for EMCOR UK. The company has developed an environmental management system that can be adapted to work with a range of diverse customers and across their operational sites. Furthermore, utilising the system helps customers achieve individual environmental goals, such as reducing waste to landfill, reducing resource consumption, and meeting CO2 targets. Our commitment to ISO 14001:2015 certification underpins EMCOR UK’s leadership in the area of sustainability.”

Tania Murray, UK Head of Client Propositions at BSI, said: “ISO 14001:2015 ensures that environmental management is now completely integrated and aligned with an organisation’s business strategies. EMCOR UK’s certification to the revised standard is a great achievement and will result in further optimisation of EMCOR UK’s Environmental Management System, making it more sustainable and cost-effective.”

EMCOR UK’s certification to ISO 14001:2015 further confirms the company’s commitment to being a “responsible” business, as exemplified by it becoming the first facilities management and sustainable business provider to become an Ambassador for the national “Right Waste, Right Place Duty of Care” Campaign. As an Ambassador, the company has joined other leading organisations in showing a commitment to promoting best practice with regard to waste management across its supply chain.
