Team EMCOR UK Raises Money for Breast Cancer Care by Completing the National Three Peaks Challenge

On 14 May, 2015, a team from facilities management provider EMCOR UK, alongside subcontractors ZJ Mechanical and Sigma Electrical Services, assembled to begin participation in one of the most well renowned feats of fitness in the UK---The National Three Peaks Challenge. It is an event in which participants attempt to climb the highest mountains of Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours. The team’s goal was to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Team EMCOR UK raised money for Breast Cancer Care by completing National Three Peaks Challenge. EMCOR UK has supported Breast Cancer Care for five years and has set a target of raising £55,000 for the charity in the 12 months October 2014 to October 2015. £55,000 is also symbolic, representing the estimated 55,000 people that will be diagnosed with Breast cancer during 2015. Team EMCOR UK members included: Roy Gough (HSEQ Manager), Graham Barton (Project Manager), Evelina Baltakyte (HR Advisor), Rashid Chatha (Security Manager), Alex Mckenzie (Mobile Handyman), Mick Pool (Project Manager), David Walker (Technical FM). Subcontractor Team members included: Jason Nicholls (ZJ Mechanical), Gary Harrison (Sigma Electrical Services).

EMCOR UK has supported Breast Cancer Care for five years and has set a target of raising £55,000 for the charity in the twelve months from October 2014 to October 2015. £55,000 is also a symbolic amount, as it represents the estimated 55,000 people that will be diagnosed with breast cancer, during the course of 2015.

Roy Gough, Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) Manager at EMCOR UK, said: “The National Three Peaks Challenge was a fantastic and unforgettable experience. The completion of the three peaks saw each participant undertake a distance of 42 horizontal kilometres and over 3000 vertical metres climbing. The team had a wonderful time and we’re delighted to have raised money for an incredibly worthy cause. We, and our participating subcontractors, are based around the UK and we chose this challenge because breast cancer can affect anyone, anywhere.”

1 in 8 women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime so there has never been a more urgent need for Breast Cancer Care’s specialist nurses, emotional support network and local services. Breast Cancer Care is there to help the thousands of people waking up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day, ensuring that there’s always somewhere to turn for information and support.
